RUSH

Rush concert: Toronto, Ontario
May 7, 1994

After the many years that Rush have not returned to St. John's, I was going through withdrawl! I took a trip to see them in concert at the Maple Leafs Gardens in Toronto. I was blessed in being accomodated by a very good friend, Keith Pomakis, who invited me to Waterloo. Thanks to him, this was the first time I have ever been in Toronto and I had perhaps one of the greatest times I ever!

The opening act was I Mother Earth and they only lasted for 37 minutes, thank God! They were a local rap group and the faster they got on, the faster I wanted them off!

However, when Rush finally got on at 9pm sharp, I was taken away with the Odyssey 2001 theme song. Accompanying this on the screen behind the stage a nut and bolt rotated towards each other to form Counterparts. The concert was the last leg of Counterparts' short tour.

The concert was two hours and eleven minutes in length and is to me the greatest concert I have ever witnessed. The group made great use of animation on the wide screen behind them as well as multiple pyrotechnics. I could not stop jumping around even though Keith wanted me to settle down and not get too hyper! Later I of course started to buy up all the concert memorabilia I could get my hands on.
